Sentient Being
Our Story
Hi, I'm Jamie—former corporate zombie, certified nutritionist, anxiety warrior, and professional overthinker. I started Sentient Being after a decade of chasing "perfect health" left me exhausted, disconnected, and ironically, unhealthy.
In 2020, during that global pause we all experienced, I had a revelation while stress-eating cereal straight from the box: wellness shouldn't feel like another full-time job. The internet was full of impossibly perfect health gurus in white kitchens eating picture-perfect açaí bowls, and I couldn't relate to any of it.
So I created the resource I wished existed: a place where health meets humanity. Where we can talk about nutrition and mental health, but also acknowledge that sometimes you need to order pizza and watch reality TV to stay sane.
Health Is Not a Moral Obligation
Your worth isn't measured by your step count, vegetable intake, or meditation streak. You don't owe anyone "health," and making choices that prioritize pleasure, rest, or convenience doesn't make you a failure.
Wellness Is Political
Health isn't just personal choices—it's access to healthcare, safe housing, living wages, and freedom from discrimination. We can't talk about wellbeing without acknowledging these systemic factors.
Experimentation > Dogma
No single diet, workout regimen, or wellness practice works for everyone. The best approach is the one that feels sustainable for YOUR body, mind, and life circumstances.
Mental Health Matters
A green smoothie won't fix burnout. We believe in therapy, rest, boundaries, medication when needed, and building communities that support real mental wellbeing.
