ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture involves the insertion of ne, sterile needles into defined points on the body. Needles are inserted until you experience a ‘de Qi’ sensation. This is usually described as a dull, heavy feeling, which can be local or move to another area of the body. Needle insertion is usually painless, however some people can be more sensitive to the Qi sensation than others. Stimulation of these points encourages a healthy ow of Qi or energy through the body. Or in other words, Acu-puncture is “a means of sending messages to the body to remind it that it needs to restore itself”. Depending on your condition, needles can be retained for up to 20 minutes.

What should you do before an acupuncture treatment?
  • You should eat a light meal 1-2 hours before your appointment.
  • You should be adequately hydrated and have emptied your bladder before treatment.
  • You should wear comfortable clothing so that you can completely relax during your treatment.

FERTILITY MANAGEMENT

Chinese Medicine has an important role in improving fertility and assisting conception and pregnancy. Records of its role in fertility date back thousands of years. Factors that hinder fertility caused through improper lifestyle, constitutional tenden-cies, diet, and stress, can be corrected through Chinese medicine.

At Sentient Being, our Chinese medicine fertility programs are designed to suit each individual with their special needs. Therapies used may include a combination of acupuncture, Chinese medicine, diet and lifestyle advice. Some common female fertility concerns that can be assisted with Chinese medicine include: amenorrhea, endometriosis, PCOS, hormonal insouciances and irregular menstrual cycle. Chinese medicine can assist male fertility by increasing sperm count, mobility and quality. In China, it is common for individuals or couples to undertake at least 12 months of pre conception care, to improve their fertility health. We recommend at the very least 3 months of preconception care. A preconception care program will look to improve current health concerns, improve the menstrual cycle, improve the health of sperm and reduce emotional factors such as stress and anxiety.
